Question 1
Are they a licenced electrician and accredited to install solar systems?
Just because someone is a licenced electrician doesn't mean that they are accredited to install solar systems.
And this is an extremely important step when choosing a solar installer because if your solar is installed by an unaccredited installer, this can lead to some serious issues for you.
But that's a topic for another article.
Always ensure they are accedited to install in your state!
In the state of NSW, which is where Unlimited Power Solutions is based.
Residents need to use the Clean Energy Council (CEC) accredited solar installer and retail in order to claim their energy rebate.
Unless your solar installer is able to claim the rebate for you like Unlimited Power does.
There is a national register of CEC accredited providers and and it is best to practice to check if prospective installers are on the list before booking the job. If solar installers are not on the accredited list, do not continue with them.
You will be pleased to know that our team here at Unlimited Power Solutions are CEC accredited solar panel and solar battery installers.
Is your roof suitable for solar panels?
They should also ask you questions about the angles the sun rise and set.
If you cannot answer the questions yourself, that’s ok. It’s best to send photos or videos of your roof to help the installer offer you the best advice.
A good installer will provide honest feedback on the viability and best place to install your solar panels. If you get multiple quotes, the advice should be fairly consistent. If one company says yes to something three other companies say no for. That single company may not be the right people to go installing panels with.
Unlimited power solutions aims to provide their customers with honest advice, we would rather be up front if solar panels are not a viable solution for you. But we do find solar panels are compatible with a vast majority of properties.
What specific warranties do they offer?
Also ask your installer what the process involves if you do require a warranty and who they should call.
This is why it is important to get a CEC accredited installer as not using one of these approved installers can void most warranties on solar panels. At Unlimited power solutions, most of our solar products come with a 10-year warranty on all craftmanship.
How much documentation and connection support do they offer?
How much support does the solar installer provide outside the actual installation process?
Do they assist with any of the documentation and support you throughout collection of the solar rebate? Do they assist with the actual connection and getting your solar panels to do the job you paid for them for?
Also, does the solar installer offer cleaning, maintenance, repairs and warranty support? If a provider does not offer any of this, they may not be the right installer for you.
